Flawed Education System

Just saw a news on Times Now where anchor was outraging against a ‘monster dad’ who made his 12-yr-old daughter beg as a punishment for poor marks.
Arresting so-called ‘Monster Dad’ changes nothing. Cops will make money, channels will outrage but a flawed system will remain the same.
These incidents happen in almost each house, only punishment vary. These incident takes place due to our flawed education system where success is being measured on the scale of marks obtained by student.
It is irony that passing marks in higher or junior class lie in the range 40-50% but for admission in successive class or for applying in any govt PSU, the eligibility criteria is 60%. Then why schools/colleges do pass those students who carry below 60% marks.
Now childhood becomes a thing of past. One decades back, a child used to enjoy his/her full childhood but now a days, most of the child can be seen within a 4 walls room all a day or taking a tuition class and computer games become their playing field.
Parents, who could not fulfill their dreams, put their aspirations on the shoulder of children. They start getting angry if child fails to fulfill their dreams.
Government should make amendment in the education policy and makes this education more vocational & less rote learning. Jai Ho!

Birth Anniversary of Swamy Vivekananda: 12 January.

12 January:
Exactly 150 years ago, Swami Vivekananda was born in Kolkata on 12 January, 1863 as Narendra Nath Datta.
He
was the first religious leader in India
to understand and openly declare that
the real cause of India’s downfall was
the neglect of the masses.
He saw that, in spite of poverty,
the masses clung to religion, but they
had never been taught the life-giving,
ennobling principles of Vedanta and
how to apply them in practical life.
Thus the masses needed two kinds of
knowledge: secular knowledge to
improve their economic condition, and
spiritual knowledge to infuse in them
faith in themselves and strengthen
their moral sense.
How can anyone forget his famous speech at the World’s Parliament
of Religions held in 9 September 1893 which
made him famous as an ‘orator by
divine right’ and as a ‘Messenger of
Indian wisdom to the Western world’.
Vivekananda encouraged the nation to
“Arise, Awake & stop not till the goal
is reached” & galvanized the country
into the an action at crucial time when India was struggling under the oppressive British Colony Raj.
The entire nation observes the
“National Youth Day” to commemorate
Swamy’s birth annivrsry reverentially with
an objective to spread knowledge in masses.
Swamy was the perfect
embodiment of Indian culture & intelligence, for leading a truthful &
purified life, is hardly followed by the materialistic society of today.
I bow my head before Swamy in reverence and paying my obeisance to him.

Anna ends fast but dont forget the hard hit effort of Anna.

Anna ends fast citing ill health as the basic reason while his critics are seeing lower turnout support in Mumbai as the real reason.
Many hard critics went too far and they are seeing it as a failure of Anna’s movement. I agree that real cause of this failure is KK (Kiran Bedi & Kejriwal) group’s belligerent behaviour and turning this India Against Corruption Movement into India against Congress because of this many people started marginalize themselves from this movement due to its political color.
Yet If we say that its a failure of movement then I think It would be a injustice with Anna.
Dont forget It was Anna who galvanized lazy public and put pressure on government which was reluctant to pass the Bill and force MPs to pass the 40 years old Lokpal Bill which might have been passed tomorrow.
Anna Ji, You go Ralegan Sindhi with held your head high. It was you Anna who gave a feeling of power of democracy.
I wish you a good health and India needs  you for further cause. I salute you Anna and Plz beware of Bedi & kejri’s hidden motives. God is with you!

Happy Birthday to My all time Favorite Neta Shri Atalji Bihari Vajpayee.

25 December:-
Happy Birthday to my all time favorite
beloved Neta, a statesman, a true
visinory, a dhoti-Kurta clad Shri Atalji
Bihari Vajpayee.
He is the one who forced me to think that politics was not too bad as much I used to thought. Because of him I became so fond of political affairs that I left my engineering path and chose a social and political path. I will always remain indebted under his political and leadership shadow and will be always under this umbrella. I feel very proud that I too lived under his unmatched administration during 1998-2004.
Harvard, Oxford
returnees should learn from him how
to speak in public and attract a large
crowds with simple polite words. Smile
never leaves his bright shining face. A
leader praised by all; a leader loved by
all cutting across the party lines and
politics.
I wish him a good health and miss him
& his flowery speech always.
Today is also the death anniversary of
such a incridible personality who gave
his all life in the service of nation and
does not need any more
introduction…. .is none other than our
last Governer General of India C
Rajagopalachari.
I salute both these two statesmen.

Must Read “Right to Recall” in Indian Democracy.

Disaster always brings change. As people grow richer, demand more freedom, accountability, transparency, good governance, decentralization of power etc. World-wide there is no corner left where no crisis of any type, be it political or economical or social or ethical or natural disaster etc, has not been going on. USA, Europe, North Africa-Middle East, Central Asia, South Asia etc all have been in grip of any type of crisis.

In India, Anna also galvanized lazy public by using potent weapon Fast-unto-death via India Against Corruption movements. Now Civil societies are seeking electoral reform like Right to Recall & Right to Reject to ward off incompetent & non-serious candidates and representatives.

Half a century’s experience of the working of the Constitution has brought to the fore several inadequacies, failures and distortions. The National Commission referred in particular to the emergence of the unhealthy role of money and mafia power and to criminalisation, corruption, communalism and casteism.

The Electorate has no role in the selection of candidates for election and the majority of the candidates are elected by minority of votes under the first-past-the-post system.

In principle, recalling an elected representative presents no inherent problems. But implementation is a different story. It is just one of a number of genuine electoral reforms this country needs.

Right to Recall:- Right to recall means that if you are not happy with performance of your constituency’s MLA/MP then you can recall him/her & elect a new MLA/MP. Right to recall presents no complexities in case of local government(Panchayats & Municipalities) as in case of panchayats, number of voters are not large and in an average voting turn out also takes place more than 90% so at the time of recall, there is no need to examine who had used his franchise right & who hadn’t.   In Madhya Pradesh, the only state where this has been implemented, there were about 30 cases of recall and almost 50 percent of those recalled were re-elected. This shows an essential flaw in the practice. We have an electoral system where people can unite to defeat somebody based on reasons of religion, caste and other such divisive factors.

Hurdles of Implementation of Right to recall in case of MP/MLA:

Average voting turn out hardly takes place more than 50%. Means rest 50% electorates who have not used their franchise right, have no legitimate right to take part in the procedure of Right to recall. For election commission, it is a very hard task to differentiate who has cast vote & who hasn’t among the lakhs of electorate. Some one may give a suggestion of signature should be taken by all those who has cast vote and later match the signature to give a receipt to legitmate voters to use his/her franchise at the time right to recall process but it is not a play of child. Another alternate is at the time of election, give a receipt to all voters who come at booth to use his/her franchise and later on the basis of previously given receipt allow legitimate voters to take part in right to recall process. This alternate is better but is it possible for voters to keep that receipt safe till right to recall time?

Definitely there will be a condition of how much percentage of electorate will be required to take permission for using right to recall process from competent authority. Take an example- If election commission put the condition that there shall be a requirement of 33-40% of registered electorate’s affirmation for recalling MP/MLA then we already know in present scenario a winning candidate hardly gets the share of more than 25% So condition of 33-40% is not valid because all oppositions by making coalition could recall the MP/MLA as total vote share of 3 or 4 opposition candidate can easily cross the threshold mark of 40 %( because of unhealthy role of money and mafia power and to criminalisation, corruption, communalism and casteism) and a deserving MP/MLA would loss the seat at the time recalling.

Right to recall is viable only when there is a law of compulsory voting but this is against the democratic system as people have fundamental right of Freedom of expression. Not to vote is also a type of expression of people. Recently a bill seeking mandatory voting in local body polls was passed again by the Gujarat govt in its original form despite Governor Kamla Beniwal questioning its constitutional validity. Again Gujarat governor has not given her assent and questioned its constitutional validity. But thing should be remember every right has a corresponding duty attached to it.Compulsory voting will help eliminate the scope for bogus voting and multiple registration by unscrupulous persons. It is the prerogative right of supreme court to decide the validity of constitutionality of this compulsory voting so I will not discuss more upon compulsory voting.

If Supreme court gives its nod to compulsory voting then Right to recall is a best process to make MP/MLAs more accountable.

Next article will be on Right to Reject.
